We live in a very fast paced world. It takes practice and energy to keep our pace manageable but it is sure not easy. I run, I run, and then I run some more. Then I complain that I am running too much. Sound familiar?
My Fred only goes outside when the weather is above 60 degrees. Yes, he is a bit of a prima donna. He will only go on the back deck and venture into my little garden area off the deck. This is also where my bird feeders are located. Fred loves to lay under the bird feeders basking in the sun. The birds continue to visit the feeders and sing away. Fred could care less about the birds. Now the chipmunks – that is a whole different story. They annoy the Cat Chow out of Fred. He enjoys hunting them, catching them, and carrying them to the back door. Fred then opens the screen with his paw and drops the chipmunk.
When “Alvin” thinks the coast is clear he takes off – yes, into my house. One day it took me 3 hours to get Alvin out. Fred will not kill the chipmunks. He probably feels that is far too much work and too messy. For those of you who know him, my Freddie boy
is a lover not a fighter!
After his playdate with Alvin, Fred goes back to the deck for his nap. Why not? He is exhausted and needs his rest.
How about you – do you treat yourself to some well deserved down time? I have taken Fred’s advise from time to time and I have to say he has the right idea. It is very empowering! Go ahead – slow down and enjoy the peacefulness. After all, it is The World According to Fred.
