Sweetness in Seattle

Vacation – just the sound of the word makes me feel good and congers up all sorts of wonderful memories. However, vacation means different things to different people. Some think of vacation in terms of weeks, and some it is a day or two. Whatever your time frame is, vacation is an important time to recharge and rejuvenate your inner SHINE.

Vacation to my family means we get a full week together, away from the house and all the distractions in our busy lives. This year we went to Seattle and had a blast! I like to make sure we have time to explore, time to laugh, and time to relax. It is my formula for vacation BALANCE.  We enjoyed every Seattle minute from the first day to the last.

We started every morning with a healthy breakfast outside on the patio which overlooked the beautiful harbor. Each morning the staff went out of their way to make sure our meal was a special experience. Boy did they deliver and our morning time could not have been nicer. The staff came from countries across the globe – Thailand, Ethiopia, China, and Spain to name a few. We had the good fortune to get to know them during our week stay. The ‘breakfast club’ greeted us by name and remembered our favorite breakfast items. Jacob loves chocolate muffins but it seemed that so did everyone else because they ran out of them quickly. The manager overheard Jacob saying that he wanted a chocolate muffin but there were none. A couple of minutes later one of the staff approached him with 2 chocolate muffins. Wow – it was like Christmas in August to my son! The manager who overheard Jacob, sent a crew member to another part of the hotel to get chocolate muffins for our son. Each day there after, Jacob had his chocolate muffin delivered to him personally. How kind is that?

After seven beautiful days in Seattle we were refreshed, recharged and ready to return home. We ended our hotel stay with a delicious and relaxing breakfast. The breakfast club made it a point to thank us for our business and wished us a safe flight home.

When we returned to our room we found 2 books from the Seattle Aerospace Museum on our bed along with a lovely note on a post card signed by the breakfast club staff. During one of our conversations with the manager, we said that we ran out of time and did not get to the Museum. The gift was their way of bringing the Museum to us. Could we have ended our time in Seattle any better? No we couldn’t.

Sleepless in Seattle? No – Sweetness in Seattle is how we see it!
